This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot verify custody or release, post bond, obtain a booking record, or act for someone in detention. Direct questions about a person, record, or case to the appropriate public office below.
Start With the Right McKinley Office
Use the type of information needed to choose the contact. The McKinley County Adult Detention Center is the official starting point for current county-custody questions. It is located at 255 S. Boardman Dr., Gallup, NM 87301, and its main line is 505-979-7224. A custody answer does not necessarily establish which agency keeps the underlying arrest report or photograph.
For MCSO incident reports and a focused IPRA request, use the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office Records Division: phone 505-863-1410, fax 505-722-9317, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Sheriff’s public-facing address is 1000 East Aztec Ave., Gallup, NM 87301. The Records Division lists mail at 300 B W. Nizhoni Blvd., Gallup, NM 87301, while also repeating the Aztec Avenue physical address. Call before visiting or sending material because the official pages show both locations.
For a Gallup Police record, contact Gallup Police Department Records at 505-863-9365 or GPDrecords@gallupnm.gov, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Gallup police report and an MCADC custody record can be separate records.
Where to Look Next
- For a current-custody question, call MCADC first. The county did not provide a verified public roster or booking-feed link, so do not rely on an unofficial listing as confirmation.
- For a booking sheet, incident report, or releasable booking photograph, begin with MCSO Records or, for a Gallup arrest, GPD Records. The county IPRA form asks for a specific record description; a narrow request should identify the name, approximate date, arresting agency, and item sought.
- For what happened after booking, search the official New Mexico Courts Case Lookup and confirm with the court that holds the case. A booking charge is an accusation, not a final disposition.
- For a possible warrant, use the court or agency associated with the matter. The county has no verified online warrant portal; see Most Wanted for the court-by-court path and safety guidance.
- For sentenced state custody or state probation/parole information, use the New Mexico Corrections Department Offender Search. NMCD says it does not manage county or city detention facilities.
- For federal or immigration custody only, use the BOP Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither is a general McKinley County booking-photo source.
Do not use the site’s contact information as a substitute for custody confirmation, a record request, or legal advice. Call 911 for an emergency, not for routine record inquiries.
